| Description | Tithe apportionments are the principal record of the commutation of tithes (substitution of monetary payments for payments in kind) in a parish under the Tithe Act 1836. The original apportionments for every parish in England and Wales were retained in the custody of the Tithe Commissioners and are now in the National Archives. Bethlem Hospital kept a copy of the apportionment for Wainfleet St Mary as the landowner. |
